This was my biggest project so far. A challenge that went through many many ups and downs. Thank you to the bride and groom for giving me freedom to create the cake. Overall, I'm very proud of the final product. Thank you too to bro and auntie who helped out and gave ideas and suggestions. I look forward to future challenges.

I love the big dices. The most difficult part was balancing the top tier with the 3 dices.

The size of the cake was just nice for the big table provided by Conrad.
The reviews for the cake was fantastic. Many people did not believe it was cake.

LOVEBIRDS

I've two close relatives whose wedding cakes and cupcakes never fail to inspire me. I want to do it differently though. My siblings' wedding deco company slogan sums up what I want to do. "Wedding Meets Design". Till date, I'm still waiting for that extravagant order!

The first wedding cake that I did, (Engagement cake actually) was made up of two heart- shaped marble cakes. I had put the cake in a clear box for easy display .It was simple and sweet. Nevertheless, I'm proud of it! Roses were handmade :D

The One With The Red Car

My very first challenge to create a 3 tier cake was last July. The final result was one I did not expect.



The request was from an ex-colleague. She had difficulty ordering from a well-known baker. She saw an engagement cake that I did for a friend and thought I should go for it. She requested for Disney Pixar Cars Mcqueen as the top tier.

This was my interpretation. Her final addtional request was a Ferrari logo.

For the cake, I've made two layers of chocolate cake with a layer of vanilla cake in between (something like Surabaya Cake). I've used Nutella spread and added whole roasted hazelnuts for crunch and iced the cake with peach flavored buttercream.

I had difficulty carrying the cake though. I think it weighed approximately 10kg!

Overall, good reviews!! Well, I've still got alot to improve on!

J'S WOK & GRILL RESTAURANT

Mixed Grill By J's Wok!
-SHIOK!


This is probably the best halal western food restaurant. J's Wok & Grill Restaurant, located at Bedok North, is run by Jamiyah. Jamiyah is a Muslim welfare organisation in Singapore.http://www.jamiyah.org.sg/ . I couldn't find any official write-up about this restaurant. Someone told me, a portion of the profits goes to Jamiyah to help the non-profit organisation. This was the main reason I wanted to check out the place.

Eat & Do Good at the same time! Brilliant!

They have western and asian menu. The following were dishes we had.

Onion Soup (Soup of the Day)

-When the waitress introduced the soup of the day. My first reaction was "NO!". She convinced me to try it. This soup was made with so much effort and love.

Soup in bowl ( I think it was chicken or mushroom soup)
- Bro's fav!

Youtiao with Mayonnaise
-Crispy and the chilli added some tangy taste to the overall flavour.

Nasi Goreng Seafood Pattaya
-Very generous serving of fried rice and seafood.

Beef Lasagna

-This was normal.

Beef Bruschetta

-I like this. Something different instead of the usual tomato bruschetta.

Fish & Chips

-Very similar to Swensen's. In my opinion, same standard.

The place was filled with middle to upper class makciks and pakciks. Probably regular donors to Jamiyah?

Cupcakes Galore

It all started with this book. I wanted to use my ATM card to pay for a few postcards and a pen. So I didn’t want to embarrass myself, I grabbed the most interesting looking recipe book and paid. The rest is history! :D

World Cup Cuppies

World Cup fever is here. I've been hit too, my kitchen actually. I had this idea of creating my version of WC cuppies while reading the papers on the 32 countries and spotted the beautiful flags. Thus, I challenged myself and voila. With the kind help of KK, this is my final result. However, I managed to do up only 14 countries.




These are actually lava cakes. Yummy...
